Fish oil is recommended for a healthy diet because it contains the omega-3 fatty acids, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), precursors to eicosanoids that reduce inflammation throughout the body. Fish do not actually produce omega-3 fatty acids, but instead accumulate them from either consuming microalgae that produce these fatty acids, as is the case with fish like herring and sardines, or, as is the case with fatty predatory fish, by eating prey fish that have accumulated omega-3 fatty acids from microalgae.

Such fatty predatory fish like mackerel, lake trout, flounder, albacore tuna and salmon may be high in omega-3 fatty acids, but due to their position at the top of the food chain, these species can accumulate toxic substances (See biomagnification). For this reason, the FDA recommends limiting consumption of certain (predatory) fish species (e.g. albacore tuna, shark, and swordfish) due to high levels of toxic contaminants such as mercury, dioxin, PCBs and chlordane. There are vegetarian, DHA Omega-3 products made from algae available if toxic contaminants are of concern.

Fish oil supplements have sometimes come under scrutiny in recent years. In early 2006, government agencies such as the Food Standards Agency in the UK and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland reported PCB levels that exceeded the strict new European maximum limits in several fish oil brands, which required temporary withdrawal of these brands. To address the growing concern over contaminated fish oil supplements, the International Fish Oil Standards program, a voluntary review process, was created at University of Guelph.

Omega-3 is the name given to a family of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids (EFAs). Essential fatty acids can be grouped into two categories, omega-6 EFAs and the omega-3 EFAs. Some Omega-6 acids promote inflammation, blood clotting, and tumor growth, while omega-3 acids, including Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), serve a very different, yet vital, function for body.

Nutritionists have come to recognize the importance of balancing omega-3 fatty acids with omega-6 fatty acids in the diet. Key omega-3 fatty acids including DHA, are both found primarily in oily cold water fish such as tuna, salmon, and mackerel (higher concentrations are found in pure fish oil). Aside from fresh seaweed, a staple of many oriental cultures, plant foods rarely contain EPA or DHA. And because most people on a typical Western diet consume far more omega-6-rich foods (including cereals, whole-grain bread, baked goods, fried foods, margarine, and others), the ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 fatty acids is out of balance for just about everyone. What does this mean? This means for most Americans the emphasis should to be on increasing omega-3s to make the ratio more even and to put the body back in balance.

Consuming 2000 to 4000 milligrams of omega-3 can help bring balance back into your diet. It is recommended that the omega-3 to omega-6 ratio should be 3:1. This will ensure that one received adequate amounts of omega-3 vs omega-6. Omega-3 comes in softgel or bulk liquid forms at your local or internet health food store. When purchasing an omega-3 fish oil look on the label for the term molecular distilled to ensure that the product contains no toxins or contaminents. Look for name brands like KAL, Source Naturals, and Natures Plus to ensure quality and purity of the product you purchase.

*Statements contained herein have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Omega-3 fatty acids are not intended to diagnose, treat and cure or prevent disease. Always consult with your professional health care provider before changing any medication or adding Vitamins to medications.

In the first part of these series on constipation help, we examined the causes of constipation and also stated one of the solutions. In this concluding part, we will be seeing the 4 remaining tips leading to the cure of constipation.

Tip 6. Exercise

Individuals who do a lot more exercise are often better physically that those who live a sedentary life. They look younger, brighter, their eyes sparkle, they have boundless energy and are generally healthier. They have a limitless zest for life and as a result of all these can fight diseases because they have a vibrant, healthy immune system. Recent stats have proved that people who lead sedentary lives are more easily prone to constipation that those who are active. So, just getting up and walking around the block in the morning is good enough to get your bowels moving.

Tip 7. Hyperosmolar Laxatives

These are compounds that can’t be digested or absorbed into the intestine. As a result they remain in the colon to retain the water that is in the colon. Hence, there is a softening of the stool as a result of the presence of moisture. Examples of this are sorbitol, lactulose and polyethylene glycol. These laxatives are only available by prescription. They have side effects –hence the restriction in access to it- and are used for the long term treatment of constipation.

Part of the side effects it has on the body is abdominal bloating and flatulence. This occurs as a result of the laxative being digested by bacteria and its subsequent turning into gas. If this continues, a reduction in the dosage usually reduces the incidence of bloating and flatulence. In some cases however, the gas may reduce in volume by itself.

Tip 8. Saline Laxatives

These are laxatives that are made up ions that can’t be absorbed by the colon. Examples of such ions are phosphate, citrate which can be found in the following combinations: sodium phosphate, and magnesium hydroxide. They function by drawing water into the colon which in return softens that stool. This constipation help method has its disadvantages.

The disadvantages of using saline laxatives are people with weak kidneys may find it hard to expel resulting in the formation of kidney stones. This happens if it is used over a long period of time. Thus, short term usage in perfect order. It may also cause diarrhea which may lead to dehydration if the amount of fluid lost by the body is not replaced immediately. Saline laxatives are found in solutions such as Milk of magnesia or Epsom Salt.

Tip 9. Stimulant Laxatives

These incite the small intestine and colon muscles to push their substance faster. This they do by increasing the water content in the small intestine or inhibiting the amount of water absorbed by the colon. These laxatives can be found in Castor oil, Senna and Aloe Vera oils. They are quite useful in alleviating and curing constipation but also has its disadvantages. Because of its potency, it can instigate diarrhea which would result in dehydration if the individual does not take liquids. They can also cause intestinal cramping and long term intensive use can result in colon damage and worse constipation.

Finally, not all of the constipation help methods are applicable. You can either consult your physician or get a a quick, fast relief from constipation. The methods mentioned above could take quite a few days before you can start seeing results. However, there is a quick solution. You can treat your constipation in less than 24 hrs and be totally free.

Using personal training business plans will always be an integral part of any new personal training business. In reality, doing the work necessary to develop plans and then editing them as needed has to be a vital part of any business in every part of its lifecycle. It many times can be a vital part of fitness, because it also has all the attributes of other business types. It’s more than lifting weights, actually.

When the time comes to think about starting a personal training business, the first thing before anything else that needs to occur is a robust planning activity. Planning will allow all facets of a business to be mapped out before the first client lifts the first weight or does the first sit-up. Smart trainers will keep this in mind, and will attempt to plan both a short-term and a long-term business plan right from the start.

If you ask a trainer what the most vital initial input factors are in order to get a training business up and running, he or she might reply that customers, of course, are the first things needed. But can customers make a difference if a business hasn’t set up the facility, designed a financing plan or otherwise done all the so-called “grunt work?” Still, it can be interesting to note how many trainers tend to just throw out a shingle and tell everybody they’re ready to start training people.

Smart personal trainers take care to learn a bit about the things they need to know in order to run a real business, most of which have nothing to do with fitness, per se. They can also avail themselves of a number of effective planning software programs that will help move the business along. Most guide a new business owner in a step-by-step fashion, down a sound pathway towards possible success. The best even supply the exact template needed for the personal training business.

All effective business plans have certain things in common with each other. They all tend to look at the meat and potatoes of starting up a business, including funding the entity and what the costs for equipment and supplies are going to be. They can even help an owner understand the tax implications inherent in the particular legal form the business under which the business is going to operate. They also help the business tell its story, which greatly benefits the construction of the plan.

This story consists, like any good story, of the five ‘Ws.’ This is the “who, what, where, when, and why” of the business. Number one is who the trainer and owner (they’re one and the same, usually) is and what the trainer’s business will be doing. Also, the story accounts for where (location and facility) the business will operate and when it plans on doing so. Lastly, and this is most important, it explains exactly WHY the business will be doing what it’s doing. Hopefully, the “why” involves helping people address their fitness concerns. If it doesn’t, maybe more planning should be done.

Consider this: An effective and thoughtful story will help the business towards a successful outcome, hopefully. Telling it correctly will also enable focus on fitness as a business and more than just a business involving treadmills and free weights. Above all else, it makes the trainer come up with a sound business plan applicable to real-world realities.

Using personal training business plans doesn’t have to be overly demanding.

In fact, using them properly will help to make personal training business plans a central function of the business. http://www.kickbacklife.com is a great resource for fitness center business plan.

Designing effective personal training marketing should play an integral role in the plans for any trainer’s future success. If it isn’t an integral part, how will the business ever be able to tell the story that permeates any top-notch marketing campaign? The ingredients in a good story are explained a little further down. In any event, a trainer needs to make sure marketing is included to at least give the business a fighting chance of at success.

There are a number of realities about our online world that marketing strives to take into account. The first is that the Internet has a power and scope unparalleled in history. Because of this, it’s imperative a website be created and stood up as soon as possible. It needs to be well-designed and include a number of elements in order to be maximally effective, though.

It’s most important to keep in mind that any website must look professional and be free of poor spelling, bad grammar and confusing syntax. It also has to be able to let possible customers contact the business via phone and, more importantly, email. From the emails left, a sustainable marketing program can be created. Of course, always make sure to give people something free for leaving their email. For example, a report on the ten best ways to quickly get back into shape makes for a good item to give away.

As was said, the emails collected by the business can make up the foundation for many campaigns to come. If there isn’t enough to start, look at purchasing a list from a list seller. Once there’s enough, look at sending out very well-written salesletters which also contain something of value. People like getting something for nothing, and the benefits of giveaways are well-known facts of marketing life.

Any marketing, including personal training marketing, needs to have at its core a story about the business. This story has all the elements of any other one, too: There is who, what, where, when and why (most important). Broken down, it tells who the trainer and business is, what it intends doing, where it means to do it, and at what times. This lays the groundwork for the final and most important element.

Lastly, it covers fully WHY the customer should consider hiring the trainer and business. Hopefully, the business has made clear it can help the customer address his or her fitness issues. This is most important to any potential client. And when it’s done correctly, it can help both short and long-term business goals and chances for success. Personal fitness can be a deeply intimate thing to many people, and they expect a good trainer to realize this. At least at first, they’re ambivalent about the particular qualifications of a trainer until they’re sure the trainer can help them with their own fitness issues.

Now, no campaign forgets to still include print-type media such as flyers, brochures and actual newspaper or magazine ads. Additionally, good old-fashioned business cards can make a great adjunct to marketing efforts. They tell a short story about the new business, and they can be spread around easily enough. Well-made cards also tend to increase the chances of gaining clients.

Designing effective personal training marketing makes it easier to create marketing aimed creating buzz about the new business.

A personal training business can be very successful and the career appeals to many. However the truly successful personal trainers do not consider it to be just a job but a lifestyle. It will be worth your while to get some training and become a certified personal trainer. The hours for personal training are very varied and the salary you make will depend on the hours you are willing to work.

Personal trainers love their job so becoming a personal trainer because the pay is good may not be the best career choice. Personal trainers not only help their clients live a healthy life through diet and exercise but they themselves live in this manner. You will be exercising a lot every single day and need to be flexible and have the appropriate knowledge to design fitness programs for different individuals.

Every personal training business will need to do some marketing. This can be strictly word of mouth or you can develop a marketing strategy and advertise. Many times personal trainers will become associated with a specific gym. It is possible to use the Internet to send your services to a wider market by providing online personal training.

The use of personal training has increased as gym memberships have decreased because personal training provides you information on how to change your lifestyle to maintain your health. It is possible to focus your training style for a specific group such as for weight loss, prenatal women or athletes. Each training will have a different program associated with it.

Personal training does not have many overhead costs, as a personal trainer will need very little equipment. Most trainers work at their client’s home so a set of free weights and a blood pressure machine is usually recommended. Otherwise all of the other equipment will be provided at a gym or their client’s home.

It is possible for a personal trainer to work the usual 9 to 5 but the most successful trainers make themselves available from between 5am and 8pm. This way they are able to take on clients that want personal training outside the usual working day. Having a flexible schedule helps though it will be up to you how many hours you plan on working each day.

It is also possible to be a part time personal trainer to increase your income by running your own part time personal training business. Part time training is a great way to stay in shape and bring in some extra cash. This is an excellent option for moms that need to work around their kid’s schedules. In most cases their clients will be other mothers that have similar schedule.

Your salary will depend on your location, the amount of time you want to work and your flexibility. Personal trainers that have to travel far distances may charge slightly more to cover gas costs. There are also options of working for a large corporation or businesses as this can be a great employee incentive.

There are also options of working for a large corporation instead of running a personal training business as this can be a great employee incentive. http://www.kickbacklife.com is a great resource for personal trainer websites.

April 27, 2009

Everyone wants to know what to do to prevent getting swine flu and how to keep it from infiltrating their businesses, homes and public places. The recent outbreak, which appears to have started in Mexico, is believed to have infected hundreds and killed dozens in just the last few days.

The CDC advises that anyone suspected of having the associated symptoms stay home and consult with their doctor. Do not return to work or school until 48 hours after your symptoms are gone. If your symptoms are severe, then go to a hospital but otherwise, they would prefer that you stay home to avoid spreading the disease to others in the hospital. Currently, the CDC does not believe that the general public needs to wear protective face masks at this time.

To prevent the spread within your home, business, schools or in public places, the CDC recommends that everyone practice good hygiene which includes frequent washing of the hands or use of instant hand sanitizers. An ideal choice for hand sanitizer would include one that lasts more than an instant. One problem with alcohol based products is that it stops working immediately after it evaporates. SkinWear, which contains no alcohol lasts for up to 8 hours which, given the current need for constant vigilance and protection is a smart choice.

Equally important, to prevent the transmission of the disease to others one should use an EPA approved hard surface cleaner. PureGreen24, powered by SDC, meets the recommendations by the United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for infection control for care of patients with confirmed or suspected Swine Influenza A (H1N1) virus in both home and healthcare settings.

PureGreen24 is quite unique because it is safe enough to use on children’s toys and cribs (with no rinse required) but strong enough to kills MRSA, staph and all the rest.

Symptoms are the same as regular influenza including fever, lethargy, loss of appetite and coughing. Some people report runny noses, sore throats, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. The youngest, oldest and people with compromised health are those at the highest risk.

Various populations, because of the nature of their professions are at higher risk as well. Those who work with large, transient populations are thought to be at higher risk. That could include chiropractors and physical therapist because they work with out the protection of rubber gloves. Bankers who hand currency may be at increased risk as well. As documented earlier, in January 2009 Reuters report indicates that banknotes may be harboring the common flu virus. Reports in the Journal Applied and Environmental Microbiology indicate that human influenza viruses can survive on currency for as long as 17 days.

It is not practical for bankers and tellers to wash their hands after each transaction, nor is it advisable to use an alchol based product 100 times a day. Again, that is why we recommend PureGreen24 to disinfect the desk tops, key boards, phone, door knobs and exam tables. The SkinWear product, which is on sale at http://jshygiene.com is prefect because it will offer you protection for up to 8 hours. In general, the flu is passed hand to hand, and self-inoculated through the membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth.

OK, actually this article will benefit you whether or not you are actually “Hollywood bound.” I was watching some DVDs the other night, and I noticed that almost all actors have completely perfect and sparkling white teeth. Have you ever noticed how different actors’ teeth are from anything you see in normal life?

One thing you can take to the bank is that most of these actors are almost always getting their teeth whitened. I did a teeth whitening comparison myself to find out how to get the stunning good looks that all the actors in LA manage to have.

There are many products you can buy, but not all of them will actually give you the consistent white teeth that you see with the actors in Hollywood. That much you should already know, right?

But now here’s the thing. I found out that you can actually get THE VERY SAME teeth whitening system the stars use — and I’m not getting here, the very same one — and you can get it for free.

Now, you need to know a little trick about how this works, and I’ll get to that in a second. But I promise, if you’ll just stay tuned to this story until the end, I’ll show you how to do it step by step.

But first, I want to just say that many times when I see a beautiful actress in a movie, I take her looks very much in stride. What did she really look like before all the cosmetic surgery? God only knows what her teeth might have looked like before the teeth whitening process. I’m just not that na

Synchronicities are meaningful coincidences. Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung was perhaps the best known theorist of synchronicity. For Jung, the cosmos was not the great machine of the modern science, but more of an intelligent, organic entity. Here is my account of an amazing synchronicity, and how it changed me.

A serendipitous cosmos is a playful, childlike one, and an adventurous and joyful approach to life encourages synchronicity. A key point is bringing the mind fully into the present moment. In the joyful state of complete presence, it is as if the cosmos comes alive. The deeper meaning and purpose of things becomes known even as they unfold, as if your psyche and the cosmic mind are in open dialogue.

Synchronicity weaves together your vision, your mind, and the world. The messages are often profound. But sometimes they are a bit blunt, and the implicit meaning of the coincidence may be something that we’d prefer not to know!

One day more than a decade ago I had a dream that the police were on the lookout for Jack the Ripper. He was lurking about, but he was being rather stealthy in his ways. I awoke with the dream fresh in my mind.

It wasn’t the kind of storyline that makes for a good start to your day. Still, it seemed to fit in with some of the self-analysis I’d been doing on myself, related to my issues with women. Was there a part of me that contained the rapacious rage of Jack the Ripper? It wasn’t something I cared to dwell on. I shuddered and pushed the dream aside.

Later, I jumped in my car and drove towards the international boys’ school where I was working. As I was on the road I pulled up behind another vehicle. My eyes were suddenly drawn to a sticker on the back of the car in front of me. It read “Jack’s Back!” (an advertisement for whisky). A shiver went down my spine. At school I entered my first class, a vibrant lot of rambunctious fourteen year olds. The previous night I had asked them to write the opening line of a mystery story. The first thing I was going to do was get some students to read that sentence aloud to the class. The boys shuffled in and I readied myself for the first task of the day. For me, this was in part, intuitive. I stood before the boys, looked around the class and sensed where the energy was coming from. This was a process I had learned from my spiritual teachers. When my eyes came to rest on James, a jovial, freckle-faced fellow, I got the deep knowing that I was looking for.

“James, can you read us what you have written?”

James stood up happily and began to read. However he had done much more than what I had asked. He had not only written the opening sentence, but had also gone on and written the entire story. And he continued reading beyond the first sentence. I decided to go with the flow and let him continue.

James began to tell the story of a woman who had been brutally murdered and raped. My ears picked up. This was a bit too much of a coincidence to ignore. The story continued. The police went on a hunt for the man responsible. They found him and tried to arrest him, but he fought back.

“The man turned and faced them like a wild animal,” James spoke out. “The policeman fired, and the man fell to the ground screaming. As he fell silent and death overtook him, a dark and horrible shadow rose out of the dead man’s body. It was the spirit of Jack the Ripper!”

I gulped. “OK, thanks for that James,” I said. “That was great.” But I could not help myself. “James, where did you get the idea for that story?”

“I dunno”, he chirped back with typical teenage nonchalance.

Now skeptical readers might think I am not telling the truth in what I just wrote. Maybe I collapsed some things which happened at different times into one anecdote. But I have not. Those synchronous events – the Jack the Ripper Dream, the “Jack’s Back” sticker, and James’ Jack the Ripper story all happened within the space of about two to three hours.

Note though, that the final part emerged from my allowing the process to unfold in a way I had not expected, by releasing control and permitting intuitive intelligence to take over. If I had told James to stop reading after the first sentence, the synchronicity would not have reached its crescendo.

That synchronicity invited me to face something within myself, the part that had been deeply hurt by certain female figures from my childhood. It was related to sexual energy and what it means to be male. The universe spoke. It had something unpleasant to tell me, but I put aside my ego, my fear of my own shadow side. I listened and took the necessary action I was being ‘asked’ to take.

This was very much part of my calling. At the beginning of my spiritual journey, I had asked Spirit that I might learn to love. A very simple request, but one which I felt was the essence of life’s journey. At the time I put out that message I did not realize that this would require years of inner work. Four years later Spirit was continuing to answer the call through the medium of a freckle-faced schoolboy. James did not say it, but his words contained the energy of a hidden meaning; love requires that we allow the light to penetrate our darkness, right to the core.

If I had of known what was required for a guy like me to learn about love, I would have changed the order and put in a request for pizza instead! Spirit is a bit sneaky at times. It only gives us as much knowledge as we can handle at any given time.

Once you begin to work with Spirit, Spirit begins to work with you. The world is not a giant machine as western science would have us believe. In a sense the universe is more like a giant story, with you as a player in the story.

Most women ultimately want their relationships to lead to marriage. They feel they need a man to make a commitment in order to feel secure. This need can scare men away, making them feel like an object, as if they’re being used for a woman’s security. No man wants to feel as if he’s being used. As soon as he does, he’s going to leave. Feeling loved is different from feeling used. When a woman can really give a man freedom, it takes his fear of being used away.

Being safe and feeling free in a relationship means different things for different men. For some men, the main joy of relationships is the challenge of finding one. They pursue a woman as long as they don’t have her, but once they do, they start feeling trapped. They feel as if spontaneity and new possibilities are cut off. The adventurer that longs to live in all men, feels he has no place to go, and the sense of being imprisoned in a relationship begins to grow.

Other men refuse to be tamed. They feel that women want to manage a guy and if they give in, they’ll be putty in her hands. This fear of being putty in a woman’s hands, having her manage him, and having his unpredictability taken away, is equivalent to death for many men, young and old, single and married because it’s as if they’re succumbing to a mother figure, becoming a good boy and ultimately losing their power and masculinity.

Freedom is a man’s birthright. Once they feel a woman takes away their freedom they’re likely to back away. For other men, relationships are all a power game. The one who’s strong is the one who needs the other one less. The power is in not needing. These men can back away as soon as they begin to feel they need the woman more than she needs them.

For these men, their sense of power and masculinity comes from not being subject to a woman, from being the one in control. It’s no wonder that men like these cannot stay with one woman long. Sooner or later their feelings of dependency start to grow. In order to squelch their own feelings, these men take to the hills. No matter how strong they think they are, the heartbreaking part is that their loneliness and frustration only intensify each time they run.

It’s important for women in relationship with these kinds of men to give them space and freedom. It’s also important to let them know, at the same time, how much they mean to you as well.

Randy, an executive in his thirties who had never been married, said all his relationships ended quickly, after only a couple of months. “What starts out great, ends up dismally. As soon as I’m with them about a month and they think they have me, the complaints begin. They don’t like this or that about me. Sometimes it’s the way I dress. Sometimes I don’t listen enough. I could have listened all night, but the one time I didn’t, they pick on that. Whatever it is, they let me know. Before long, I feel like I’m back in school again getting a D on my report card. So I smile and am polite to their face, but before they know it, I’m out the door.”

A woman in relationship with a man like this would do well to encourage him to answer her back, to express his feelings. She should listen quietly and be careful about criticizing him. Many men are much more fragile than they seem. Harsh words from a woman they are dating can cut very deep. When she does express her needs and feeling, it is important to do it carefully, in a non-critical manner, making sure he is also aware of how much she values him.

Ultimately, it’s important to know the man you’re with, what makes him feel safe and valued. You can find out by asking him, and also by looking at his relationship history. When did other relationships end, and why? What was the triggering factor? Patterns often repeat. If you understand his pattern in the beginning, you have a much better chance of not getting caught. Basically, most men want to be in relationships, they want to commit. If you can understand and relate well to his particular fears, you will be giving the relationship a real chance.
